They started -and ended- as a big marketing tool. They posed as rebels and anarchists but they were one of the most artificially marketed bands ever.
They had it all sewn up for them. Publicity stunts, look, etc. The band itself was assembled together by Malcolm McLaren. Crap.

You kids are nuts! you should try and actually listen to Nevermind the Bullocks with an open mind and realize that without the Pistols there is no punk. Malcolm Maclaren was a douchebag who put up the money for the Pistols to sell clothes. big deal, there is a rich douchebag behind every band you have ever heard of. But Glen Matlock and Steve Jones were the coolest MFers ever. The pistols are great, listen to Bullocks and get over yourself.

p.s. if you really wanna show off to the poseurs, when someone says how great sid vicious was, remind them that he was a murderer fashionista who couldn't play and whose membership in the pistols signaled the end of their "favorite". Remind them that Glen Matlock wrote their songs, and they never wrote another after he left and sid joined.
