Talk Talk started as a general 80's pop band, but by the time they hit the 90's they'd become incredibly moody.

Some of their stuff can be hit or miss, but there are some amazing tracks in some of their later albums.

Here's one of my personal favourites at YouTube - I Believe In You - love the discordant harmonies in the background, and the slow but strong rhythm once it gets going around 1 min 20 - and great lyrics, too:
