Re: Viva La Vida
In all honesty, I found it to be a much better album than X & Y. The only songs I liked on that album were Fix You and Talk, so this one by far surpasses any expectations I had for it.
I didn't like Violet Hill at first, but if you listen to the entire album the whole way through, all the songs fit in quite nicely with each other and it makes for something really nice to listen to if you want to chill out. I am in love with Lovers in Japan, it's just such an incredible piece of music, and The Escapist is wonderful too. Viva La Vida itself is an okay song, and Life in Technicolour is a nice instrumental piece. Even my sister likes this album, and she's usually the first one to rant about how much she hates Coldplay! What I found amusing was that I was reading an interview with Chris Martin in the paper, and a journalist said that this album reflected the band's morbid obsession with death. I noticed a couple of references to death (obviously I mean because its alternative title is Death and all his friends bla bla), but in all honesty, this album doesn't reflect anything about a morbid obsession with death to me. Most of the lyrics reflect love, and even the title and the clothes the guys are wearing in their videos are reflective of the French Revolution, which is apparently what they were inspired by whilst writing this album! That was me going off on a tangent, but anyway, in short, I really love this album. It's a CD for the long drive collection anyway!

Re: Viva La Vida
I like Viva La Vida, a lot. But I still need more time to figure out if I like it more than their previous work.
At the moment my track standouts are Yes, 42, and Viva La Vida. I recommend checking out the Rolling Stone issue out now that interviews Chris Martin. Very interesting. |

Re: Viva La Vida
Wow, I would definitely not say this is the best Coldplay album ever... but I do like it better than I thought it would be considering how much I disliked the last album...
I think Lost!, Violet Hill and the title track were the highlights. |
