Re: What guitars do you guys prefer when playing Indierock?
I would say a single-coil standard Fender Strat. God knows it ain't pretty but it just has the best sound when it comes to indie music.
I mainly play noise, where any guitar will do, and garage where my Danelectro is preferred. |

Item 190289863186 on e bay
Roland Enabled Infinite Sustain Xtreme Goth Rock Guitar This is the Unique “Canis Testicastor” (English translation “The Dogs Bol?cks”). It’s a BC Rich/Ibanez/Jackson style clone, that's been pimp'd with £350 quid's worth of electronics with some abalone (plastic) pickguards. Xtreme.... so you can play from deep dive Sammael growls through shredded 2 octaves to ethereal drones, and then MIDI/GK device control for any other sound in the sonic universe. That’s why it’s the “Canis Testicastor” |

Re: What guitars do you guys prefer when playing Indierock?
just find a guitar that you can express yourself with, and make some noise with it- One of my fav guitars is a piece of crap SX sjm with the neck pickup ripped out for on/off toggling, and a super heavy set of strings for alt tunings. C C E G B D low to high is what its currently in. I think I got that tuning from expressway to yr skull by SY

I use a gretsch because it feels good to me, not because i'm trying to sound "indie"
I've never really understood why you would want to sound like someone else. |

Re: What guitars do you guys prefer when playing Indierock?
If you are open to a hollow body a really, really great affordable guitar is the Ibanez AF75. Looks great, well made, plays great, fairly versatile in terms of the sounds you can get out of it and most importantly of all pretty cheap! But don't let the low price put you off cos AF75 is easily as good as most guitars that cost twice the price.
I've got 10 electric guitars and 2 acoustics and if I had to get rid of all of them except one I'd keep my Telecaster Deluxe. Easily the most versatile guitar I have. |
