Re: good indie folk rock bands?
hands down... The Decemberists.
(I may be a little biased just because they're from my hometown...)

Quote:
Then I went to see them open for Death Cab For Cutie later that month, and Colin Meloy and the rest of them turned it more into a theatrical performance than a concert alone! The acted out this song and danced, and Colin and some other members actually jumped offstage and danced around in the crowd with everyone! Colin even crowd-surfed. He's even hilarious, too. And he can walk on water. A lot of popular indie bands reside in the Northwest, and I'm sooo lucky to live in the epicenter of it all. The Shins reside here, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock actually lives on the same street as James Mercer of the Shins believe it or not, plus The Blow, Yacht, Viva Voce, Talkdemonic, The Shaky Hands, Helio Sequence, etc., etc. The last few aren't on the same scale as the previous, but they still are widely known. If it sounds like I'm maniacally praising my hometown, I AM. ![]()
