Can't beat the good old real stuff.

Bauhaus, Nick Cave, Birthday Party, Siouxsie, Mission, Fields of the Nephilim, Virgin Prunes, Dead Can Dance, Sisters, New Model Army, regardless of their place with the goth scene, these lot are like the biscuit upon which the peach and custard were placed...

Re: Goth recommendations (Please post here for recommendations for this genre)

Psychic bodies: Formed in 2007, slowly worked on material,
until putting together a debut album "the shining light", in the autumn of 2009.
Currently only available for download through cdbaby.
Originally the shining light was an 11 song album, but tracks from other unfinished projects
were added and thus expanded the album to 20 tracks in total. The songs themselves were
something of a unique oddity in the music world, as they were recorded during a few moments
of inspiration and were not rehearsed or anything more than half arranged moments prior to
actual recording. And so these songs stand as a work of art, never to be played again, never
to be performed live on stage, or rerecorded to future albums.
The music stylings are a harmonious mix of psychedelic rock, gothic rock, hard rock, grunge and
small traces of heavy metal, resembling some influence from bands like luna sea,
siouxsie and the banshees, death cult, kuroyume, red teple spirits and christian death as well as
alice in chains, psi-com and bauhaus.
The album can be considered a "concept album", though such a term is poorly thought out, as all music
albums are truthfully concept albums.
A world cryptic dreams, reincarnation, lost cities and distant forgotten times such as atlantis,
pagan ritual, war, love, sacrifice and lonliness as well as the search of understanding
in the universe strongly pervade hand in hand with the theme of death.
More psychedellic style songs such as "a love for reincarnation", "distant memories",
"psychic communication", "visions of memories" and "tragic ends" offer a satisfying dose of the genre.
Gothic songs such as "ceremony" , "fragrance of the trees", "hope", "memories of shade", "pagans"
and the spoken word poem "tritos", which contains an epic solo of pure feeling,
offer tribute to the gothic influence so heavy in psychic bodies albums.
The shining light is scheduled to be made available on cd within the year 2010.
The 2nd album (and also unreleased, and to be released in 2010) is named "earth", and rightfully so. Keeping with their
psychedlic and gothic influences, psychic bodies offers raw and full drumming that is more
than tempting to dance to. Washed with soundscapes of monstrous guitar layers and melody,
creating an atmosphere very in and of itself. At the same time influenced by certain
genres, yet all it's own.
Also completed in 2009, but rather in the early winter, it strays away from the grunge and
hard rock aspects that loomed and filled it's predecessor, the shining light.
This album is much more along the lines akin to psi-com, red temple spirits and a more death romantic
style.
Acoustic driven songs such as "alive" and "appirition" introduce a softer element to the
psychic bodies sound reservoir while maintaining it's gothic roots with tracks like "earth",
"still i weep", "antarah", "goddess and ghost", "lost city", "castaway" aswell as "autumn rider".
Tracks like "mother's children", "starscreams" and "strange rythym" make up the purely instrumental
element of the album. Each of the three in their own style and flavour.
Adding possibly the only real dose of grunge on the album, "love" stands by itself in it's own
corner, towered over by the almost 8 minute long epic "tritos ii", a beautiful piece with a wide
range of style and theme.
When put all together into one album, "earth" holds true to the psychic bodies vision and sound style.
Just as dark, dreamy and screaming, with a more drum led vibe, akin to music that can stand in
a dancehall or a night club. Also still being loyal in regards to lyric content, truly a worthwhile
listen for any goth fan young or old, man or woman.
Currently, psychic bodies is working on their 3rd and final album "visage". Promised to be a bold
culmination of the flourishing blossom that is the music of pb, it is planned to be in line
with the prior two albums, psychedelically gothic and gothically psychedelic.
Psychic bodies are...
Era reed-vocals
adam root-bass
salem stone-drums
peter b-lead guitar/lyrics/album art
laurie hold-rythym guitar
after the completion of the final album under the psychic bodies banner, members plan to split
and form two brother/sister bands...
Straying from their gothic and psychedelic roots, members adam root and salem stone will
form a more alt rock band in the patterns of bands like jane's addiction and alice in chains
and the velvet underground, set to explore a more mainstream sound under the band name "youth in asia".
Peter b will be onboard as the lyric man for y.i.a.
Peter b also plans to continue music under the band name "xhayl" with former bandmates
era reed and laurie hold. His love for what is termed j-rock, or japanese visual kei in japan
is the driving purpose to xhayl, paying a form of tribute to the bands that inspired
and moved him deeply as a teenager. As with psychihc bodies, xhayl is set to make only 3 albums.
The first is scheduled for mid to late 2010.
