Is Hip Hop Dead?
I used to be at one time a huge fan of Old Skool Hip Hop/ Rap
I personally think most new wave urban music is a disgrace if you dont mind me saying so! Practicaly the whole Hip Hop scene has been completley washed out by all of this N-DUBZ..Bassline and 'Heads, Shoulders Knees and Toes' crap! whatever happened to GOOD URBAN MUSIC?? Anyone can get on Cube Base Software and make a rediculus and bad timed piece of music with random broken beats and any annoying female vocal over the top, and stupid MCing (if you want to call it that) that makes no sence!...what a load of S***e. and can i just say! what the hell is wrong with these people who actually enjoy listening to it? It has no real real rythmn or cleverness to it at all!!! I am all up for exploring new and different types of music...but this really gets on my wick people! bring back GOOD hip hop music e.g. Nas!! anyone with me? feel free to disagree...I just want to know what other people think ![]() x |

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
I think genre destinations are dying. Music without credibility is dying and unfortunately over the last ten years hip hop has become as INcredible as the blandest pop. People are across the board getting smarter about music and hip hop sold its soul a long time ago to banal, 50-cent territory

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
Well, I have to agree with you. If I think about the worst "rapper" on earth I think about Flo Rida - too "pop", too crap, too Top-40, too commercial, too plastic. And he can't rap! Just like 50 Cent, how I dislike him!! Yugh. All he can "rap" about is sex, sex and err... oh yeah, girls in thongs (which eventually leads to the same thing).
I absolutely know what you mean, good hip-hop is hard to find these days. |

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
im glad you agree! which brings me onto R&B now!! most people don't actually know that this stands for rhythm and blues!....I can't even begin to share how much it aggrivates me when they put people like NDUBZ, Akon, Flo- Rider, Britney Spears, Cheryl Cole.....and any other clown on a compliation disc and title it 'The Best OF R&B' or 'Pure R&B'.....What?? this is no real Rythm and Blues! none of it has soul? its 'New Wave Pop music' thats what it is!
...and YES- Pink Noise Studios- I totally agree! i'm sick of hearing disgusting lyrics about girls in thongs and sex this sex that- makes me want throw up to be honest! why does every artist of today also feel the need to have street dancing in every video too!! (e.g. Alexandra Burk, and pretty much nearly everything to come out of the U.K. XFactor!) there we go again! completley ruining Hip Hop Culture! |

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
Hip-hop to me has always been about an ethos more than an actual sound, based around free expression and originality. That being said, that crap on the radio is not hip-hop. Take it or leave it. There's good jams out there, but they take some work to track down.

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
I like the direction hip hop's going in... it's becoming more of a fusion of hip hop and rock, and I think it's cool that more bands and artists are bridging the gap between genres.
One of my favorite hip hop/rock artists right now is Richy Nix, he's got the blend down to a science. His single "In My Head" is so catchy! |

Re: Is Hip Hop Dead?
What about hip hop that isn't on the radio? What about Atmosphere? What about some of the artists who played Paid Dues?
All the people that complain about genres dying haven't realized that good music isn't handed to us anymore. We have to do a little digging, but then you'll see there are hundreds of thousands of other people who felt the same thing and are now uniting in favor of something better. Educate yourself! I'm only preaching because I was in the same position, and now I'm sure as hell hip hop is NOT dead! |
