Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

I've noticed the same thing. Hans Zimmer for example has a very distinct style, and so does Vangelis (whom I consider to be film's greatest composer).

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

I once saw a French film with a really nice soundtrack, it may have been called '2 colours blue' or something like that. Does anyone know it?

Waaaa-aaaaaa-aaaaaah.

Do you mean Krzysztof Kieslowski's Colour Trilogy, Red, White and Blue.

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

I'm not sure, that might be it. It was about a woman who was a composer.

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

Ah yes, Brother Where Art Thou? and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon have great soundtracks, Lacedaemonian. I almost forgot about both of them.

Of course, I like the LOTR soundtracks, I've mentioned that on other threads. I enjoy Chicago and would like to have Moulin Rouge. But my favorite dancing, singing, belting in the car soundtrack is Dick Tracy, hands down. What a fun CD!

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

Just about all the soundtracks I like have already been mentioned. LOTR trilogy, Braveheart, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Gladiator...the Moulin Rouge soundtrack was fun too. Aside from orchestral stuff, I like the Shrek and Matrix trilogy soundtracks.

This is Great!!!

I am so glad I started this forum.......you guys love movie soundtracks
almost as much as I do!!

I think everyone loves all the popular soundtracks like LOTR and Gladiator!

I love a lot of soundtracks........

I have just listened to Stargate OST and have always thought its such a
great masterpiece composed by David Arnold.......sounds great!!

I love originality and creativeness in a movie and the soundtrack!
I also like HIdalgo if you guys have not listened to that one check it out!!!
Its great with the powerful sounds of adventure with some ancient Arab
music in parts and wow its very good!

I can't wait for Harry Potter to be out soon.....I already have the first two
soundtracks and they are great!!

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

Yeah, I have thought of another soundtrack I like/

Indiana Jones

On another note: I'm going to see Harry Potter 3 this evening. I'm already excited!!!
I think it enormous to compose the music to a mulitparter! You have to stick to the same atmosphere, more or less, and yet arrive at having different soundtracks who can still be recognised as belonging to the same set of films. Just take LotR: There is at least one musical theme that goes through all three films! (Same with Harry Potter, I think, but I'm not too sure about that one.)

Tank Girl has always been one of my favorites.

The soundtrack for SFW is good, and I note it because it is far better than the movie.

I remember the movie, but not much of the music. I always enjoyed The Royal Tenenbaums, Donnie Darko, and Empire Records. Also most of Kevin Smith's movie's soundtracks.

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

I really like the Tears for Fears song Mad World performed by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules on the Donnie Darko soundtrack. I used to listen to Vangelis quite a bit, but I find his soundtracks a bit dated. Just saw BladeRunner again over the weekend and the synth music takes away from the movie, imo.

Me too, it really brings something out of that song that the original version didn't. Its a more powerful song with Gary's arrangement.

Re: Movie Soundtracks!!

I love the soundtrack to the movie "Last of the Mohicans." Enya played on the track for the composer. It is lovely.
