Goodbye Blue Sky
This song is incredibly touching. It sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.
"look mummy, there’s an aeroplane up in the sky" Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the Promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue Sky? Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? The flames are all gone, but the pain lingers on. Goodbye, blue sky Goodbye, blue sky. Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye. |

Re: Goodbye Blue Sky
There was me thinking this was about the ELO song.
![]() The Wall song that hits me if Comfortably Numb. Everything about it - from the visuals, the words, to the superb descending bass and guitar solo, just mark it out as a defining piece of music. I really need to see if that album is cheaper on CD these days.

Re: Goodbye Blue Sky
Wish You Were Here is another great one.
I agree with you, Brian, they concoct sucha lovely mix with all these different elements, but yet they never go over the top with any of them. That says quite a lot about them - that they can deliver their message without gimmicks and tacky refrains.. |

Re: Goodbye Blue Sky
All of The Wall is great, but my favorite track to play is "Is There Anybody Out There?". I love the acoustic guitar part, many a night have I sat about at a garden party and just played that for ages, such a beautiful piece of music.
