The Cure
Dug out some old CDs not listened to for years...the Cure:
Staring at the Sea Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me Lovely sense of fun in a lot of them - Caterpillar and Lovecats for certain - and a great sense of variation. I am really going to have to chase down some more Cure. ![]() Not sure what's happening to them these days - last I heard (mid-90's?) there have been a serious bust-up over credits and song rights among the band. Either way, I somehow suspect that Robert Smith long ago shelved the eye-liner. ![]()

Re: The Cure
I've followed them since 83 and have never been disappointed. Their new album 'The Cure' comes out on the 29th of June here in the states.
My only complaint with them is that their album covers seem to get worse with each release...the latest one being the worst overall. |

Re: The Cure
The only albums I am familiar with are a singles collection (Staring At The Sea?), Wild Mood Swings - a suitably varied mix of songs, and Bloodflowers - a beautiful, bleak album with some real epics on it, like Watching Me Fall and the title track, as well as the pretty, poignant Where The Birds Always Sing.
I did not realise that they were still around - somehow had the impression that they split after Bloodflowers. I do believe that Robert Smith still sports eyeliner, by the way, but considerably toned down. ![]() |

Re: The Cure
I saw them live in 2004, probably the concert that changed my life the most. I wouldn't have gotten into music if my dad didn't take me to it. "Plainsong" is one of the most beautiful songs ever. I wonder if Robert Smith and Morrissey could sign a peace treaty and make a song together. That would quite possibly be the saddest yet most beautiful song ever. Or maybe it would be pretty scary.

Re: The Cure
They really are amazing live. I have listened to them for my whole life it seems, and i really like their older stuff much, much more than say... wild mood swings. There are ome good tracks on the album, but overall, it doesnt really do much for me. The b-sides are good though!

Re: The Cure
Disintegration is one of my favorite albums ever, aside from that I only have Boy's Dont Cry and Staring at the Sea. My favorite song is probably Disintegration.

Re: The Cure
Yeah, the aforementioned are good albums. It's just a shame they're labelled as Goth, even if they were, unfortunately, the pioneers.

Re: The Cure
LOL.. The legendary post-punk band founded by Robert Smith, Lawrence Tolhurst, and Simon Gallup :-)
