Cajun Music

Is anyone in this forum knowledgeable of Cajun music?

I first heard it on a country music station in Pennsylvania. The song was called "Louisianna Saturday Night."

I was in Houston, Texas in August of 1980. I heard a song on a local country music station, "Ma Jolie Blonde," by an artist I do not know.

Subsequently I learned that what I had heard was an updated version of a very old song that some referred to as the "Cajun National Anthem."

Does anyone know who sang it and where I can either download it or buy it?

Thank you.

Re: Cajun Music

I actually have CD of Cajun music, but I don't really listen to it.

See if dwndrgn has any idea - Cajun originates in Bayou country, doesn't it? Marshes of Florida?

Re: Cajun Music

Actually, that would be Louisiana. My sister-in-law married a man who's family is from there. And part of their family plays that kind of music. I can't remember any of their names or any of the songs unfortunatley. If I remember correctly, they were fairly famous in those circles. If I can remember, I will ask her about them the next time I talk with her.

Re: Cajun Music

That's right - Louisiana.

I just thought of swamps and alligators - must be because Hurricane Frances is so much in the news.

Re: Cajun Music

I quite like Cajun music but I know Diddley about it. Still, anything that can make an accordian sound this good can't be bad

Re: Cajun Music

I havn't heard of Cajun music but if it's from the Louisiana boodocks I would like it. I like good old southern music. There are aligators in southern Mississipi and Alabama area with swamps big enough to get rid of people you don't like in it.
