Genre

What's your favorite genre of music out there?

I myself love almost all forms of metal. I would say all but I don't like some of the heavy metal and some of the nu-metal.

Re: Genre

Metal, classic rock, Rage Against the Machine type "Funk," "alternative rock," *some* pop, and Celtic music.

I'm listening to the Cranberries right now.

Re: Genre

I like all kinds but my favourite is probably R&B - and I don't mean that new fangled stuff where folk wear extremely baggy trousers and point at the camera all the time (can they only afford one camera for those videos?).

I mean proper R&B - Rythm and Blues

Jazz! More specifically, Swing. I just can't sit still when I hear it.

Re: Genre

That's even worse than trying to decide which are my favorite songs. It would be much easier to list the genres I don't like: most country (with a few notable exceptions), and most rap (with even fewer exceptions). Other than that, I'll listen to almost anything. For example, I had some beautiful classical music on this morning. Then later I was listening to 80s pop. Right now I'm kind of in the mood for some 40s big band music. It all depends on my mood.

Re: Genre

The easiest way to describe my favourite genre is to say that I'm up for everything except for country and western and commercial pop, and even then I'm willing to make exceptions
Thats not to say I don't have my musical dislikes, just that they are based on the music and not the genre.

Re: Genre

Yep. I do tend to be attracted to dark moods, dissonant textures and there's always this love for the Big Riff. Apart from that, pretty broad tastes really.

Re: Genre

All save pop, urban, country (except for four Eagles songs), and basically commercial music. All but two genres have some good in them, but the bad is very, very evil. Nickleback must die.

Re: Genre

So am I the only black/death/necro/gore/doom/melodic/precission metal fan here? A sad sad day. hehehe.

i listen to fiddle, classical , rock and some pop (prozaak ) on the side. i really like an underground band from cape breton, pididdle. they are really great and I'm not saying that because i've been best frinds with the singer for 16 years.

Can anyone guess what pididdle means?

I've just acquired a double CD of Oscar Alleman - an Argentinian contemporary (and rival) of the great Django. Worth getting if you like Swing.
