i have to agree with garreth, hendrix's solos dragged on and on and on and on and etc etc. he should have put less time in his guitar practice and more on his vocal practice then there would be no argumant about him being good or bad.

I do not want an argument so this is how it stands I do not think Hendrixs is as good as people say he is. He is good yes but a bit over rated, you hate some of the things i like and i probley hate some of the music you like whats new in the world. (This mean every body not just me and you)

To get back to the original question, I like mostly 60-70s rock (inc Hendrix) with blues, some jazz (not the modern tuneless stuff), a bit of soul, almost NO country thanks, british folk rock, and probably lots of other stuff as long as it's got a good tune and is well done. Don't ever bother with rap.

Yes I like a lot of Nightwish stuff, they're a unique type of group. I'm not into Hendrix at all, and so can't really compare him to other guitarists because I have listened to very little of his music. But as far as other great guitarists, I would add the names Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, and Joe Satriani to the list.

Also regarding the talent in rap, some of the MCs are quite lyrically talented. It takes some type of skill to string together lyric after lyric in a coordinated manner on the spur of the moment (at least in freestyling).

I seem to be unique in my circle of friends in not being able to stand listening to Nightwish. The music really really gets on my nerves. Prog rock just doesn't work for me, I guess

All I ask is for somebody to name a greater guitarist than Hendrix. There simply isn't one. I would not even say that I was a fan of Hendrix.
