Actually I dislike it to. However a friend loves it, and to be polite I smile when he mentions it. But that singers voice gets on my nerves a mite too much. And dammit, it's not metal. They sang 'We're flying through the air' who God's sake!

It took me a little while to get used to her style of "operatic metal" singing. I still don't enjoy all of their songs, but many I can rock out to. But again, it was definitely a band that had to grow on me before I appreciated the music.

I enjoy most forms of music. I like anything out of the classic rock era, and some country music that has a classic rock feel to them; mostly songs by Big and Rich, Montgomery Gentry, and Tracey Lawrence. I have not found to many bands, or even songs for that matter, that I can relate to in the new rock era. The bands leading up to it, STP, Pear Jam, Live and groups of the same mold draw most of my attention. Big band is on the computer when I write. I will listen to classical or blues when I am reading. My fav classical composer would have to be Persacetti ( I think I spelled that right), and I guess some movie scores would fall into that category as well. Braveheart and Broken Arrow come to mind.

Wow... I downloaded a couple songs by that Nightwish band, it sounds pretty bad to me. Just really overdone I guess, if they have really good lyrics I can see it growing, but the music itself just seems like a dramatic cartoon theme song. The songs I listened to by them were called "Gothic Sanctuary" and "Phantom of the Opera".


I listen to Emo, Punk Rock (some new and some old, but theres a lotta kinds of punk.), Vocal/Trance, some alternative rock - really selective, like certain groups I think are authentic and I think they put a lot of emotion into their songs, but there are others that I cant stand. All rap isn't bad... just the majority. Its based on a culture, and in every culture there will be morons, and there will be intellectuals, so I dont think you can discount all rap. (Unless of course you have heard every single rap song and can prove that every single line is crap.)

I dont know how people can say "I only like one kind of music", because to me music is entirely based on emotions and thoughts and every genre has some similar themes. Maybe the different style distorts it for you and you dont percieve it the same way, but theres more than a couple emotions out there and we can all relate to a given human emotion(well most of us anyways). As long as the artist is passionate about their work and puts a lot of thought and honesty into their lyrics, I think people will be able to feel and appreciate it even if the music itself doesnt appeal to them.

i only like a few nightwish songs but the ones i like are very good

John Williams is wonderful! Besides Star Wars, he also composed the themes to Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones (among many others).

Hendrix is the greatest rock guitarist. The classical guitarists are far superior to the rock guitarists, there really is no comparison. Jimmy Page, Slash, Clapton, George Harrison, Pete Townsend, Captain Beefheart....... John Frusciante is the greatest rock guitarist of recent years.

I like lots of stuff, and am incapable of understanding the hostility displayed towards hip-hop. It's a hard genre to do well, but so many people are doing it well.

Incidentally, I was slightly saddened when I listened to Summer Sun after I can Hear the Heart Beating As One.

mostly metal. my favorite bands are: Opeth, Amorphis, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian...
