hawkwind

i've known of the band hawkwind for some time but it wasnt untill recently that my dad lent me some of his hawkwind LPs that i found out how amazing this band is(or was).

they started in '69 and the members have changed through the years with one the sax player who has stuck with it. aparently they are still doing tours.

they have this kind of cykadelic (Sp) sound using synthesizers and altering the voice etc.

some of the members of this forum may know that the author, michael moorcock also worked with them for some time and wrote a few of their lyrics... infact some of their songs and albums are named after moorcock characters (arioch, chronicle of the blacksword etc)

i wondered what you guys who have heard of them think of Hawkwind, personally, i think they are amazing!

Re: hawkwind

Damn, blast from the past

I have been listening to Hawkwind since I was a kid, and yes Moorcock was heavily involved with them, I think each influenced the other.
The psychedelic element of both their music and his writing can't be ignored to I'd hazard that while they were influencing each other...something wa sinfluencing them...

*puff* *puff* *pass*

Re: hawkwind

The psychedelic warlords! I've only hearde Levitation, Hall of the Mountain Grill and a couple of 'Best Ofs' but I really like them. Some of my friends call them a 'poor man's Blue Oyster Cult', but what do they know! Lemmy Kilminster was once their bassist, and debuted his signature song, Motorhead with them, in a very different version that includes a noodling violin solo, if I recall right. Here is a thread that touches on the Moorcock connection: http://www.chronicles-network.net/fo...ead.php?t=2265

Re: hawkwind

I happen to have the cd, Warrior on the Edge of Time. I also have it on vinyl. The Demented Man is my favorite track.
