Re: Rainbow

I liked the first three albums, with Dio on vocals - Rainbow, Rainbow Rising and Long Live Rock n Roll. Fave tracks include Still I'm Sad, Man on the Silver Mountain, Black Sheep, Light in the Black, Stargazer, Lady opf the Lake, Gates of Babylon and Rainbow Eyes.

After that it became a fairly standard-issue80s outfit, more of a Blackmore ego vehicle than the real band it initially felt like - although the 90s comeback album, Stranger in us All was excellent.

Rainbow broke a lot of new ground in incorporating orchestral elements within a hard rock context - and featured some of Blackmore's most epic solos yet. The first 3 albums will always be somewhere in my top 1,000.
