Songs that negate each other
Might be fun to play a game where we put together songs that cancel each other out. No idea what I'm talking about? Here's an example:
Love will tear us apart - The Joy Division + Love will keep us alive - The Eagles = 0 Or, maybe: I'm Dying - VAST + Coming Back To Life - Pink Floyd = 0 Get the idea? C'mon, put on your music-geek hats and join in! |

Ok, I'll have a go.
Numb, U2 - New Sensations, Inxs. Four seasons in one day, Crowded House. - Forever autumn, War of the Worlds soundtrack. Great song of indifference, Bob Geldof - We care alot, Faith No More. Addicted to bass, Pure Tone - Breaking the habit, Linkin Park. and............ Stuck to you, hunters and Collectors - Teflon, Jebediah ![]() |

He's a Rebel, the Crystals - Victim of Society, The Living End.
Of course, that only works if you take the second title out of context. How about I Will Always Love You, by Whitney Houston, vs I Hate You So Much Right Now, by Kellis? |

Re: Songs that negate each other
Buckcherry / Lit up - Nirvana / Depressed
No Doubt / Don't Speak - Hot Hot Heat / Talk to me, dance with me Our Lady Peace / Is Anybody Home? - Avril Lavigne / Nobody's Home Prodigy / Breathe - Lagwagon / Choke Queen / We are the Champions - Beck / Loser Radiohead / Talk show host - Incubus / Talk shows on mute (sort of works...) The Beatles / Good morning, Good morning - Hot Hot Heat / Goodnight, Goodnight Phil Collins / Take me home - Franz Ferdinand / Take me Out Unwritten Law / Lame - Faith No More / Epic -------------------------------- I must admit for some of these I cheated, you just take a song and look up the opposite word on google with the word "lyrics" after. ![]() |

Re: Songs that negate each other
I think I may have found the ultimate example of this phenomenon.
On Gordon Lightfoot's first album, "Lightfoot" (1965), the song "For Lovin' Me" appears, with lines such as: "That's what you get for lovin' me" "I won't think of you when I'm gone" "I got a hundred more like you/So don't be blue/I'll have a thousand 'fore I'm through" Then on the 1968 album, "Did She Mention My Name", the title song contains lines like: "Did she mention my name just in passing" and, repeatedly, "And by the way, did she mention my name" And on Lightfoot's first greatest hits compilation, "Gord's Gold" (1975), the songs are presented together, with "For Lovin' Me" first, segueing straight into "Did She Mention My Name". I've always thought that the juxtapostion of the two is brilliant.
