Led Zeppelin and Tolkein

Led Zeppelin is one of my favourite groups, so was checking out via Google for more info.

Not sure if anyone else has seen it but there seems to be a connection between Robert Plant's lyrics and Tolkein's LOTR.

A very interesting concept, although I am not sure if it is not someones vivid imagination. It looks convincing written down, although I just cannot picture Robert Plant writing the lyrics specifically about LOTR.

Has any Zeppelin fan further evidence that this is maybe true?

The lyrics to the Battle of Evermore are cryptically about Tolkien's works...

Quote:
The drums will shake the castle wall, the ring wraiths ride in black, Ride on.

Re: Led Zeppelin and Tolkein

Well, there is this snippet of lyrics from "Ramble On", on Led Zeppelin II:

Quote:
It was in the darkest depths of Mordor,
I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum and the evil one crept up,
And slipped away with her.
Sounds pretty definitively LOTR-related to me.

Well, I guess I just never put the two together, so thank you for your input. I shall now be spending a lot of time catching up with the meaning of lyrics. Sounds like an interesting subject to persue.

I thought everyone knew about the connections...

If you go down in the streets today, Baby, you better,
You better open your eyes.
Folk down there really don't care, really don't care, don't care, really
don't
Which, which way the pressure lies,
So I've decided what I'm gonna do now.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains
Where the spirits go now,
Over the hills where the spirits fly, ooh.
I really don't know.

What's he got in his pocketses???

Quote:
Over the Hills and Far Away
Quote:
Many dreams come true
And some have silver linings
I live for my dream
And a pocketful of gold
Mellow is the man
Who knows what he's been missing
Many many men
Can't see the open road
Many is a word
That only leaves you guessing
Guessing 'bout a thing
You really ought to know
You really ought to know

And a little known fact is that Robert Plant used to have a dog called "Strider" and he used to shout out it's name at the end of "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" when they played it live...

Oh well in that case it's alright. Wouldn't want to wake up your son.

Will play my own CD and wake up the neighbours!!

Good on ya, mate...

Open the windows wide, and crank up the volume... Especially if you have a decent sound system on your computer...
