Re: hm....

i dont think that music affects people's behaviour in a huge way, i think maybe it is a more subtle thing... I think you have to look at the bigger picture to really say what if making a person act a certain way, music is only a small part of it.

Re: hm....

but there are some people who let music influence their whole life, which by me is completely wrong....for an example,I listen to black and death metal, but I don't dress in black clothes...I listen to various types of music and I don't let any of it affect me.

Re: hm....

Isn't music generally chosen as a reflection of a person's existing identity, or of how they would like to be perceived/perceive themselves?

Re: hm....

i dont really think it is the music that makes a person dress a certain way, i think they may say that is the reason, but you need to look at what drove them to that in the first place.

Re: hm....

i agree that music doesnt affect the clothes you wear, but your clothes and the music you listen to are external ways of expressing your personality.

so for example, a sad/depressed person might wear goth clothes and listen to death metal.

and i think this is where the connection comes from between music and clothes.

=====

as for music affecting how you act, i think this is possible.
if some ones a bit down and they listen to an upbeet song which they like, it might put then into a better mood.

mood can also affect the music, if your in the mood for jumping round like a maniac and swinging your hair round in the air, you'll put on some heavy metal

Re: hm....

hehe, yaa it just kind of makes me mad when people blame music on the way a person acts, i mean i enjoy listening to loud screaming music sometimes and i am considered to be quite a "good kid" by most people. The music i listen to doesn't dictate the way i act. It is more like an outlet for how i am feeling at the time because i tend to keep my feelings to myslef. I just can't see how people can make those statements when there are so many people that contradict them!

Re: hm....

yeah i think its just blind steryo typing when people say if you listen to such and such music you MUST enter this sub group.

its true to some degree.. but not all people who listen to death metal are goths

Talking Re: hm....

Music doesn't affect the way I dress. I think heavy metal is great, it doesn't make me feel 'down'. The only thing I would like to do (still) is to have blue streaks in my hair!! They didn't have that when I was younger

Re: hm....

What about people who listens to different types of music? if it really affected how you dress then they'd be wearing a right mishmash of clothing!
