MTV Awards

MTV Europe Music Awards

I see the the pop-punk idols Green Day won the best album and rock categories.
(This was the group I noticed that Rolling Stones Magazine called snot-nosed brats!)

Gorillaz was named best group while Coldplay took best song for Speed of Sound. Nice one Coldplay!!

Irish rocker Bob Geldof was given the Humanitarian Free Your Mind award after staging Live 8, the global anti-poverty concert watched by hundreds of millions of people and billed as rock music’s greatest day.

That’s it Bob, show ém how to do it!.

Re: MTV Awards

How are Gorillaz the best group? It's just Damon Albarn (sp?), isn't it?

American Idiot is a pretty darn good album. Especially the tracks that weren't released...

Quote form a news article:

LISBON, Portugal (AP) - British cartoon band Gorillaz took home the Best Group award at the 12th MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday.

The band, the brainchild of Blur's front man Damon Albarn, was running up against Coldplay, Green Day, Black Eyed Peas and U2.

They were up for four additional awards but won no more. "Best group and we don't even exist," said the band. Earlier the band had staged the world's first 3D hologram performance to their award nominated song Feel Good Inc.

Re: MTV Awards

And another:

04 Nov 05 - Coldplay and Green Day have taken the top honours at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, winning two awards each.

"Despite their success, they both lost out to Gorillaz in the battle for best group with co-founder/cartoonist Jamie Hewlett telling the ceremony in Lisbon: "We are the best group and we don’t even exist."

Its quite bizarre isnt it? *shrug*

Re: MTV Awards

How anyone could beat U2 and Coldplay is beyond belief...

A 3D hologram performance sounds very interesting though.
