Damn you ozzy!
Paranoid, an amazing song, one of the greats of heavy metal. they really took their time with the slow heavy riff in the opening, the lyrics were amazing and the song was... well, perfect.
The one day, flciking through the TV channels this is what i find on Skuzz: - Ozzy Osbourne - - Paranoid - so i thought this would be good... hmm... no. the opening riff is speeded up and sounds like it was played on a tiny plastic guitar for kids.. half way through the song you here ozzy shouting something like hell yeah raise the roof, c'mon **** yeah and things like this... which completely destroys the mood of the song, not to mention the whole thing has been speeded up and he has completely killed his own song which was originally a masterpiece. ![]() |

Re: Damn you ozzy!
So listen to the original. Rarely is a remake as good or better than an original, mostly because the wonder has already been released and you can't get that back - like opening the vaccum seal on a can of coffee. Once opened, it's over. Plus, you get used to a normal sound and if it gets changed the difference can be overpowering.
However, and I truly like the original version, you can also respect the newer version for harnessing the power of the original and making it more forceful. The original, while wonderfully heart thumping, was meant to be a ballad. A sad, lonely, heartwrenching search for acceptance. The newer version is more of a statement - take me as I am, I'm me and it isn't going to change. It is amazing how pacing can change something like that. For example, take e.e. cummings poem on snow - read it out loud, slow and stately and you feel as if you are walking in a winter wonderland. Speed it up, change the force of the words and you are being attacked by a blizzard. It's all a matter of perspective. Of course, I'm sure he did it to capitalize on the name for monetary reasons, that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. To me at least.

Honestly though, I think the wife is the only thing keeping him alive these days. He's completely sober, has trouble walking, talking and probably using the restroom and he has probably two brain cells left...perfect example of what happens when you party too hard. What is truly sad is that Kelly inherited nothing from him except poor fashion sense... I think his music-making and songwriting days are done. Even the album before this last showed his lack of attention. We'll have to just enjoy what we've got.

I certainly won't mourn if he does not make anymore albums. Didn't like the previous ones at all - just not my kind of music.
Nor do I like any remixes of the originals and that includes copies of brilliant songs, which will never ever be a good as the original. ![]() |

Without Sharon, Ozzy would just curl up and die. He is totally dependent upon her. Right or wrong, good or bad, that's just the way it is. But I don't want to see him mumble his way through any songs!

What`s with the Ozzy hatin? The new album was different and not like the older stuff at all, but just listen to Perry Mason or No More Tears and remember what the guy is really capable of. The solo on No More Tears is one of the sweetest guitar solos ever in my opinion. Bark at the Moon also rules and these songs were important influences for other bands we know and love today.

I wasn't haten on him in the least. I do like Ozzy but don't really care for the newer stuff.
Did anyone happen to see the special on TV not to long ago where he said that he has a diease somewhat like Parkensons? That is one of the reasons he shuffles and shakes alot. |

Em, Paranoid doesn't start with a slow riff. Its one of the more up-beat numbers. What are you on about>? |
