Do you know other bands that might not have international fame?

Soulwax is good as well.
Chisel has to be up there with the biggest examples of not 'making it' overseas. Absolute classic band in oz, yet as far as I know not even an inkling of success overseas?

I have a tendancy to rave about Powderfinger, so putting them and Hunters and Collectors aside...

Paul Kelly
Butterfingers
Jebediah
The Whitlams

Brilliant band Cold Chisel...
There was a good WA band back in the 80's called V.Capri...
The Angels - also a brilliant band whom I don't think went overseas.
Did Rose Tattoo or Gangajang make it outside of Australia do you know Quokka? Although they were probably before your time

Bands from Scotland:

Deacon Blue (Still together I think, one of the lead singer is now in 'River City'. a scottish soap).
Hue and Cry
The Proclaimers
Wet Wet Wet (my cousin went to school with the lead singer and I saw him outside the pub once - the lead singer, not my cousin)
Travis

Biggest and Best Band at the moment:

Franz Ferdinand

I'm sure there are many more but I can't think of them

How could you forget Texas???? I love Sharleen & Co!

I'm not Scottish by the way, just seem to like rather a few Scottish bands. There's also

Simple Minds (fabulous in their day)
Idlewild
The Proclaimers (they have their moments you know)
Shirley Manson from Garbage
Teenage Fan Club
Mull Historical Society
Mylo
Edwyn Collins
The BetaBand were mostly Scottish

That's all I can think of for now...

Nice to be of service to the wonderfulness that is Scottish Music!

xx

Re: Bands from your country

Now onto another country - WALES!

I'm half Welsh (my Mother's Welsh and all her family) so, great bands from Wales...

Super Furry Animals
Stereophonics (earlier stuff really)
Catatonia (not bad you know)
Manic Street Preachers
Tom Jones
Charlotte Church (what a voice)
Goldie Lookin' Chain (you need a bit of humour in life)
The Great Dame Shirley Bassey
Feeder
Lostprophets (so cool)

xx

Re: Bands from your country

I like alot of band that come from OZ, I recently got into Natlie Imbruglia from listening to her stuff on radio 2, not my usual heavy music I know but, hey, im open minded, I even love listening to New Age music when painting! It is very good for relaxing, calming my thoughts and giving me inspiration.

Oh yes I like Savage Garden too, I must buy thier old album...
