Celt Islam Soundsystem

Okay, this may seem like an advert at first, and that's probably because it is. Not that I profit from it other than the satisfaction of introducing new people to the audience of this particular artist, I'm babbling.

Celt Islam Soundsystem consists of several people, but the head of the system is my lodger, he often keeps my head bopping making his music.

One of his tracks have even been played (twice!) on BBC Radio 1, on Bobby & Nihal's show. Bloody good stuff.

He's a really good guy, so feel free to head over to his myspace place too to download some free tunes. You'll find a link there in the previous link.

That's it, respond with yer reactions to the sounds that will massage your ears if you like.

It's interesting, but it feels like it's lacking something - with a name like that I'm expecting some thing with a Celtic and Islamic flavour, but I'm not hearing it - just general electronica. Would like to hear some samples on there to liven it up.

Do you think he would?

I felt the same way Brian, a mixture of wonderful Islamic and Celtic music.

Re: Celt Islam Soundsystem

I'm not sure which tracks he has up there, but he does use a lot of Islamic samples that you wouldn't think were at first. He has been working on a track over the Xmas and New Year period, which has a very distinctive Islamic strings sample running through it, very interesting from what I can tell when sat downstairs playing Tiger Woods.

I've heard other people ask about the Celt bit of his name, and I must admit it seems a little of a misnomer to me, as he seems to class Celt as anything localised (such as UK Drum n Bass).

Nevertheless, he is a muslim, so the Islam is definitely there. I'll see if I can't get him to upload a more islamic-based track and get back to ya'll.
