just wondering what people think about the band Coldplay as they get so much hype do they live up to it or do they turn out the same tripe again and again. I'll put my 2 bits in first.

Personally I think coldplay just turn out the same old stuff again and again and don't understand what the hype is all about. I quite liked yellow when it was first released but the radio played it to death then everything else they released just sounded the same and I got bored very quickly

A Rush of Blood.. was a really good album on the whole, and they do have a few gems on the other two, but generally they are dull. Same high-pitched girly singing on all the latest tracks.

same here. I'm not the coldplay kinda guy, and unless they do a bit of a stylechange, this band will not have my attention nomore. then again, what do they care about me?

I voted 'not bothered either way'.

Like many people, I love Parachutes but everything after that was very similar and it was never bettered.

IMO, Coldplay do not live up to their hype but they have made a couple of good tunes.

Even though the radio played Yellow to death, it remains, to this day, one of my favourite songs.

Bah i totally hate coldplay. I suspect the rock is dead thread is a direct result of bands like coldplay being thought of as rock by the largest part of the population.

To put it simply, they bore me. There isn't much difference between their style and every other alternative mainstream band out in the musical void that is the US.

Oh they're a yawn fest alright. Ridiculously overproduced, ludicrously morose music that basically lifts the more populist elements of better bands (Radiohead, U2) and creates safe, sad hits for the mopey sorts.

And it's dreadfulness is recent.

There used to be excellent music around if you felt a little mopey. Like Morrisey, for example. Mind you, in those days a mopey song was 'this is what happened, and happens, and that is why I am a bit upset.'

And now these bands have created the new strain 'I'm inherently whingey and I think everyone's against me.'

I blame Del Amitri. They started it all, with 'Nothing ever happens. Nothing happens at all...'

I would have to say that Coldplay is one of my favorite bands, I like most songs they've brang out on all of their albums, but thats just me

Salazar, are you the same Salazar as the one on TaBB? Because if so your Brit mix is wonderful.

Also Coldplay have a few good songs but their new album kind of killed-off whatever they had going for them. Also using the riff from Computer Love is pretty lame. I have nothing against them really, though.

I love Coldplay. I find their music good for the soul, it also puts my mind at ease when I am having a hard day.
